How to play Penguin Solitaire
Goal
Release the beak and move all 52 cards to the foundations.
Deal & layout
Penguin Solitaire is played with one deck (52 cards). The first card is dealt face-up to the first tableau pile and is called the Beak. The other three cards of the same rank are moved to the foundation and serve as the starting card for these foundation piles. The rest of the cards is dealt face-up to the seven tableau piles, resulting in each tableau pile having seven face-up cards. There are seven cells called the flipper, empty at the start.
Allowed moves
- Tableau piles are built down by rank and in the same suit. Sequences which are correctly ordered can be moved together.
- The flipper cells can contain only 1 card.
- Only cards with rank one lower than the beak (or a sequence of cards starting with a card one rank lower than the beak) can be moved to an empty tableau pile.
- Foundations are built up in-suit and allow turning the corner.
System requirements
Penguin Solitaire can be played in all modern browsers, on all device types (desktop, tablet, mobile), and on all operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, ...).
